About This Project

HLF 2017 was organized by “Hyderabad Literary Trust” in association with the Government of Telangana and with the support of several academic, literary, cultural organizations and publishing houses. 

Philippines was the guest nation this year and it invited to showcase its literature, art and culture. Renowned poet Ashok Vajpeyi was the Chief Guest. Ambassador of the Republic of Philippines Ma Teresita C Daza was the guest of honour while poet Ashok Vajpeyi was the chief guest and State IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, chairman of HLF Organising Committee, presided the inaugural session.
This year, HLF paid special attention to Tamil language in order to sustain linguistic diversity.

 

Highlights of the event:
Homage to Mahasweta Devi (1926-2016),

Chandralekha (1928-2006),   
MS Subbulakshmi (1916-2004);

Stage Talks; Cultural events; Workshops; Exhibitions; Events for college students and school children’s bookfair.

 

Nearly 1700 people attended the event over 3 days and the festival came to an end with a finale, oggudolu, which is a traditional folk theater form of Telangana.
